On this page you may sign up for multiple workshops by indicating the quantity attending for each workshop. Classes are free and art supplies will be provided.

About the Artability Workshops  

Eligibility: All Artability workshops are free and open to adults (18+) who have a mental health diagnosis.
Your must register to attend. ASL interpreter available upon request. 


How to Register: Sign up from this web page, or call our Registraion Voicemail at 651-228-3950, leave your name, phone number and a list of the classes you want to attend. You will recieve a confirmation call-back. *If you need to cancel, please notify us as soon as possible. Class size and supplies are limited.*

2018 Clay Sculpture, St. Paul, Tues, April 3, 4-6p
Learn how to sculpt subjects ranging from large to small structures and 3-D subjects with earthenware clay. There will be two clay workshops at each of the Minneapolis and St. Paul Locations. All pieces will be taken to Continental Clay to be fired and you can attend the later class to pick up your piece or paint. All artist levels welcome.

2018 Creative Journaling, Sat, April 7th, 1-4pm Mpls
During this monthly class, artists will explore forms of creative journaling Each artist will receive an old book that they will reinvent into a journal by covering it with paintings, poems, collage, or drawings. Every month artists will be introduced to a new journaling medium or exercise with guidance from artist Corilyn Wagner. The format will provide an open environment for expression and reflection. Over the course of the workshops, the book will become a work of art from cover to cover. Beginners and advanced artists welcome.

2018 Open Studio: Paint & Draw, Saturday, April 14th, 1-4pm (Sold Out)
Join us for open studio in an atmosphere of creativity, expression, and encouragement. Open Studio is an opportunity to paint, play, and learn together with other artists.
Staff will be there to help answer questions, offer guidance, and provide feedback on your work. Beginners and advanced artists welcome.

2018 Artability on the Go, MIA, Tuesday, Aprill 17h, 3-430pm
Please join us at MIA for a tour with tour guide Jan Sedgewick. Jan has been giving tours there for 17 years and is still very in love with hosting visitors. The collection of art is quite extensive and there are many themes that can be addressed and discussed.
Note: Please arrive by 3:30. We will meet at the tables in the coffee shop on the 1st floor until 3:30. The walking portion of the tour will take place for 1 hour from 3:30-4:30. Wheelchairs are available- just ask the front desk when you walk in.

2018 Soft Pastels, Sat, April 21st, 1-4pm
Come try this fun and colorful medium. You will learn about the different types of soft pastels and various ways to use them, such as drawing, blending, layering, etc. We will work on painting landscapes. Different steps in a painting will be discussed. Beginner to advanced artists welcome.

2018 Watercolor, St. Paul, Tues, April 24, 4-6pm
Join us for Watercolor classes to learn both basic and advanced watercolor techniques: how to use paint and color by mixing paint and adding water to create memorable works. Continue to learn and grow in your Watercolor abilities. As you learn, you will motivate yourself as you see improvements with each painting. Interaction between teacher and student is encouraged. Instructor Mike Conroy will work with each artist as they have questions and individualize teaching to each artists' level. Beginners and advanced artists welcome.
